“Innovations in Violence Prevention”

April 9-11, 2015

Emory Conference Center Hotel, Atlanta, Georgia

With a Pre-Conference Collaborative Workshop with the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on April 9, 2015

Conference Hosts: Nell Hodgson Woodruff School of Nursing at Emory University

Successful responses to violence against women must be undertaken in collaboration with stakeholders across many sectors and consider the complexity and diversity of women’s lives and the communities in which they live. This conference will provide an excellent opportunity for nurses, social workers, mental health counselors, physicians, advocates, community activists, and researchers working in the area of violence against women to engage in dialogue about international research, practice innovations and policy initiatives that address the issue of violence against women and children from varied standpoints.

Abstracts for presentations that focus on research, innovations, educational initiatives, policies and programs that advance a vision of a violence free world are invited within the following 3 themes:

  • Global research in response to violence against women
  • Prevention of varied forms of violence (e.g. intimate partner violence, child/woman trafficking, community violence; child exposure; exual assault; date rape, etc)
  • Using innovations and/or technology to identify, prevent or respond to violence

Abstracts which address topics related to violence, but which fall outside of these 3 themes are also welcome.

Three methods of presentation are available:

  1. Oral presentations
  2. Poster
  3. Symposia
